A rain shortened match at Beaconsfield CC gave the Aussies their 4th win of the tournament and their first win over England for some time.
England won the toss and decided to bat in a game reduced to 30 overs per side. Ian Southie took the vital wicket of John Evans with his first ball. This rocked the England side, who none the less regrouped and gallopped along at more than 6 an over. Led by Derek Tow England eventually posted 190 from their 30 overs. The best of the bowlers was, once again, George Preston who took 3/31 from 4 overs of off spin.
The Aussie batters started steadily and then accelerated at the end to knock off the required runs with just four balls left to face. Star of the batting was Vice Captain Murray Harrison with 55no f4om 47 balls. He was asisted by openers Hardham and Wilson.
An excellent win against very strong opposition. Australia remain undefeated and prepare now for Sri Lanka and India.
